Palace Hotel Tokyo has achieved the GBAC STARTM Facility Accreditation, affirming its implementation of the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention throughout the property under the guidance of the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a division of ISSA – the worldwide cleaning industry association.

As the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation, GBAC STARTM assists organizations with establishing the necessary protocols and procedures to prepare for, respond to and recover from bio-risk situations.

In addition, Palace Hotel Tokyo has become a Sharecare Health Security VERIFIEDTM with Forbes Travel Guide which is a “seal of approval” identifying hotels that meet more than 360 expertly validated screening criteria established by Sharecare, a digital health industry leader, and Forbes Travel Guide, the global authority on genuine Five-Star service.

Representing the industry’s gold standard, the accreditations verify that Palace Hotel Tokyo has implemented best practices for optimum readiness and is committed to operating as safely as possible.

The following measures have been implemented throughout the hotel in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while endeavoring to maintain optimum comfort for all guests and patrons.

  • Wearing of masks (non-woven filters inside polyester and cloth masks) by staff, as well as gloves, when appropriate
  • Wearing of masks by guests when in the hotel’s public spaces and evian SPA TOKYO is requested at all times
  • Mandatory temperature checks for staff upon arrival on-property
  • Temperature checks for guests will be conducted upon arrival at reception and spa reception as well as at each of our dining outlets. Those with a temperature of over 37.5℃ (99.5°F) or who are simply feeling unwell are asked to please refrain from visiting the property. In the interest of safety, individuals with a fever and / or displaying other symptoms may be turned away.
  • Mandatory washing and sanitizing of hands by staff upon arrival on-property, as well as frequent washing and sanitizing of hands
  • Hand sanitization upon each entry to the hotel, its dining outlets and its spa & fitness facilities by guests is requested.
  • Hand sanitization is placed throughout, including at high-traffic, high-touchpoint areas
  • Frequent cleaning and sanitization to maintain optimum hygiene levels
  • Sanitization of elevator buttons, tables and chairs after each use, as well as sanitization of high-touchpoint areas such as doors, escalator railings and door knobs every 30 minutes

Guestrooms

The following measures have been put in place, including restriction of staff access to occupied guestrooms until departure in order to limit exposure.

Upon Arrival and Departure

  • Temperature checks, sanitization of hands and the completion of health-check forms upon check-in
  • Installation of plexiglass partitions at the reception counter
  • Frequent sanitization of elevator buttons

On-Site or In-Residence

  • Limitation of housekeeping service to once per day (unless otherwise requested)
  • Sanitization of each guestroom during daily housekeeping service
  • Suspension of evening turndown service (unless otherwise requested in advance)
  • Individual packaging of TV remote controls, directories, etc. after sanitization

After Departure

  • Thorough disinfection, sanitization and ventilation of each guestroom once vacated
  • Thorough handwashing, sanitization and the discarding of gloves after each room cleaning

Dining Outlets

  • Frequent sanitization throughout, including that of tables and chairs after each seating, and door knobs and handles every 30 minutes
  • Temperature checks and hand sanitization upon arrival
  • Suspension of buffet-style food presentations
  • QR-code-accessible menus for viewing on personal mobile devices (single-use, printed menus available upon request)
  • Use of individually packaged condiments such as salt, pepper and sugars

Meetings & Events

  • Central air-conditioning system is equipped in the hotel building and the carbon dioxide concentration and level of humidity in each function room is constantly monitored and controlled in the Control Center
  • Level of carbon dioxide concentration of each function room is maintained at lower than 800ppm, which is lower than the standard set by the Act on Maintenance of Sanitation in Buildings (1,000ppm), by controlling ventilation of the function room
  • Level of humidity within each function room is maintained at more than 40% which is the guideline suggested by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare
  • Recommendation of function rooms and layouts that maintain safe physical distancing between guests
  • Installation of plexiglass partitions for functions involving dining and meetings
  • Temperature checks and hand sanitization at each function room prior to initial entry
  • Frequent sanitization throughout, including that of tables, chairs and audio visual equipment after the conclusion of each function, as well as sanitization of escalator railings and door handles every 30 minutes
  • Recommendation of online appointments between clients and hotel staff whenever possible

Spa, Fitness Center & Swimming Pool

  • Temperature checks and sanitization of hands upon arrival at evian SPA TOKYO
  • Frequent cleaning and sanitization of bath facilities, locker rooms, treatment rooms and fitness facilities and swimming pool to maintain optimum hygiene levels
  • Limitation of the number of guests in bath facilities, fitness center and swimming pool at any one time
  • Limitation of the use of treadmills to allow for safe physical distancing

Requests to Guests

  • Those with a temperature of over 37.5℃ (99.5°F) or who are simply feeling unwell are asked to please refrain from visiting the property
  • Please wear masks when in the hotel’s public spaces
  • Please sanitize your hands upon each entry to the hotel, its dining outlets and its spa & fitness facilities
  • Please maintain safe physical distancing between guests when in the hotel’s public spaces
  • Please immediately approach the nearest available staff for assistance if feeling unwell
